Adult Swim's Leading Fresh Series of 2025 Secures a Major Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

Last October, Adult Swim saw the return of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, later that same month, the channel introduced a fresh animated series with a markedly softer vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be sweet and soothing, in the spirit of a animated take of a serene talk show. During a period often characterized by dark humor, this show's earnestness resonated deeply and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Major Commitment

In mid-December, Adult Swim revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for a further two seasons. This provides showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the world of the Campbell family. The show focuses on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose central trait is their profound affection for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four key characters.

"I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," remarked Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for a little longer."

Network Praise

Accompanying the news commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and strangely uncanny." He specifically highlighted the fans who found the show and championed its uniquely offbeat style.

"All of you showed up for this new show, championed for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a gentle counterpart" to other adult animated fare. There’s something deeply soothing about following this charming family go about their simple existence.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa stated his desire to move the comedy genre beyond its prevailing cynical streak. He traced this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we keep returning to,” explained Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we just have to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

Future Seasons

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa may well be part of that change he described. Or at the very least, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to experience the heartfelt moments of the endearing Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. The complete first season is ready to watch on HBO Max.
