The Three Lions to Launch Euro 2028 Campaign at City’s Home Ground
The England national team will commence their 2028 European Championship adventure at the the home of Manchester City, on the condition that they achieve the anticipated passage for a tournament taking place in most of the United Kingdom and the Ireland.
The Etihad Stadium has not welcomed an Three Lions game since the spring of 2016, when Turkey were defeated 2-1 in a exhibition match, but is almost certain to stage the national team for their inaugural game on June 10, 2028.
England are scheduled to play their last two group stage games at the national stadium, but, should they win their group, their round of 16 match would take place at the Newcastle stadium. Securing the runner-up spot would mean starting the playoffs at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Competition Kickoff and Demonstration
The tournament was launched at an ceremony in a London landmark on the previous evening. High-ranking officials from European football’s governing body and the organizing bodies were barracked as they entered the site by around fifty pro-Palestine demonstrators, who demanded Israel to be expelled from the sport because of the situation in Gaza.
Banners were raised with slogans reading “Show Israel the red card” and “You are complicit”, while demonstrators chanted: “Kick Israel out.”
Event Fixture List
The inaugural fixture of Euro 2028 will be played at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, on June 9, 2028, a match that will feature the Welsh team if they qualify.
Wembley Stadium will host both semi-finals and the title decider, which will be held on July 9, 2028 with a start time at 5pm.
It is anticipated that an afternoon start, which will also be adopted for UEFA Champions League finals from the following campaign, will attract families and help connect with a more diverse set of fans.

The Ireland are set to play their opening match at the Dublin Arena and Scotland would follow suit at Hampden Park.
The national sides of all four hosts will participate in the preliminary stage; two guaranteed slots will be held in reserve for any that miss out on the tournament through the standard process.

Aston Villa’s stadium and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium finalize the nine host stadiums. Each one will hold at least one elimination game, with the quarterfinal matches held at the national stadium of each host.
The qualification draw will be held in Belfast, which was excluded as a venue city last year when it became clear the proposed venue could not be renovated in time, on a date in late 2026.
