Uche Fuels Dominant Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Even though entering their maiden continental adventure, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Without key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding result that virtually secures them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

A further victory in their upcoming fixture against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal straight entry to the knockout stages, particularly after a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Moment

This match provided a chance for several Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, scoring for the second consecutive succession.

The Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season were outmatched against a mostly rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.

Dominance Asserted from the Start

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A flowing move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee dismissed the appeals.

The formerArsenal man did not have wait long to find his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's shot had hit the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Seals the Game

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.

A solitary concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
