UK Prepared to Utilize Frozen Russian Funds to Finance the Ukrainian Military Campaign
The United Kingdom is set to progress with employing the entire amount of immobilized Russia's assets to aid Ukraine's defense operations, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has declared.
In a shared declaration, the leaders of the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this coordinated action would increase strain on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to come to the table.
They clarified that the initiative would be implemented in strong partnership with the US.
UK penalties have immobilized more than £25bn of Russian funds since the Russian government launched its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, up to this point, funds allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russian assets had solely been sourced from profits and interest earned on them.
Sir Keir told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were in agreement in their goal to advance efforts toward employing the full value of the immobilized Russian sovereign assets to halt hostilities.
He stated that more measures over the next period would increase the strain on Moscow.
This statement is subsequent to EU leaders gathered in Copenhagen previously to discuss employing seized Russia's funds for a €140bn loan to Ukraine.
Recently, American leader Donald Trump encouraged international partners to take or employ seized Russian funds, based on media sources.
The worth of immobilized Russian holdings in the Europe is assessed to be nearly €211bn.

Russia launched large-scale bombardments across the Ukrainian territory on that day, leading to electricity outages in significant regions of Ukraine's capital, the city, and eight other regions.
Two people were lost their lives and a minimum of 20 people were wounded in the attack, Ukrainian officials stated.
In a post on social media following the attack, Zelensky wrote that the strategic strike aimed at public and utility structures.
"What's needed is not empty words but firm measures - from the US, the European Union, and the G7 - in delivering defense mechanisms and enforcing penalties," he stated.
"All penalty impositions diminishes Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.
In the same period, Zelensky stated to the press he would encourage Sir Keir to participate in the Purl programme, under which alliance members buy weapons from the America to give to Ukraine.
While commending the Britain's consistent assistance for the Ukrainian government, he said it should indicate firmly that it would take part in the program, as well as apply further measures on the Russian Federation.
